These are the Top 10 LA companies techies want to work for

Tech workers are targeting a diverse selection of top-tier Los Angeles companies as their ideal places to work.

Hired, a career marketplace for tech workers, identified the most attractive companies in tech in cities across the U.S. The company surveyed tech workers in software engineering, product management, design, and data science roles to find out what companies they were most interested in working for.

“Employees are more interested in working for companies that cater to what they value most,” Hired wrote in a post accompanying the study. “Value is subjective to each candidate’s preference and can be defined as compensation and benefits, company culture, or the opportunity to learn new skills; and thanks to new options, the ways candidates can assess value are continuing to grow.”

Ultimately, the list is a measure of “brand positivity,” meaning how a job candidate feels about a given workplace. Here are the top 10 companies where Los Angeles techies want to work the most, according to Hired.

  • SpaceX
  • Hulu
  • Hyperloop One
  • Virgin Galactic
  • SnapChat (NYSE: SNAP)
  • Riot Games
  • Fandango
  • Tinder
  • Dollar Shave Club
  • eHarmony

Favorites of Los Angeles’ tech workers range from SpaceX, which is on the cutting edge of outer space exploration, to movie ticketing company Fandango, founded back in 1999. Dating platforms also scored high with the SoCal tech industry with Tinder and eHarmony’s brand positivity scores landing those companies in the top 10.

Streaming service Hulu was the only content producer to make the list in a town full of studios and production companies. Hulu, which competes for shows with the likes of Amazon and Netfllix, reported 47 million unique viewers in May. And Hyperloop One, which rounded out the top three, is moving forward with plans to build Elon Musk’s vision for high-speed tubular transportation.
